
Richard Pérez-Feria is the consulting Editor in Chief of PuraPhy, the premier online destination for all things CBD. Recently, he was the Guest Editor in Chief of Out, the largest and most important LGBTQ fashion/celebrity/lifestyle magazine in the US. Formerly, he was Chief Executive Officer and Editor in Chief of Empire Media Network, Inc. (formerly Saratoga Living, LLC), home of the award-winning saratoga living and saratogaliving.com and was also the Executive Vice President, Editor in Chief at ELLIMAN Media and Editor in Chief of the award-winning magazine, ELLIMAN as well as ELLIMANMedia.com from Douglas Elliman.
Previously, he served as Vice President, Editor in Chief at Now It Counts (NowItCounts.com / NiC Magazine) from EPath Media and a contributor to The Huffington Post. Before that he was Executive Vice President, Editor in Chief of HudsonMOD, a luxury magazine and was also founding Editor in Chief of VEGAS INC and Business Editor of Greenspun Media Group (Niche Media, Las Vegas Sun). Before launching VEGAS INC, Pérez-Feria served as COO, Editor in Chief of celebrity and sports websites at PLANETASTIC and served as Senior Vice President, Editorial & Entertainment at República in Miami.
Pérez-Feria was the high-profile Editor in Chief of Time Inc.’s People en Español, the nation’s best-selling Spanish language magazine. In his first year, Pérez-Feria oversaw a revolutionary re-launch of the New York City-based magazine and, in the process, People en Español enjoyed unprecedented growth, including year-over-year rate base increases, record advertising sales and numerous editorial and creative awards. Importantly, Pérez-Feria moved the title from steep losses to record-breaking profitability. Pérez-Feria’s award-winning tenure at the helm of the brand is widely regarded as a game-changer for all Hispanic media.
After leaving People en Español, Pérez-Feria launched RPF Ventures, a Hollywood-based entertainment company that focused on film, television and media projects where he served as Founder and President. He was the Executive Producer of the acclaimed film, East Side Story, as well as Creator and Executive Producer of several television programs. Pérez-Feria then became founding Editorial Director at Brash.com the large men’s vertical owned by Mode Media (formerly Glam Media). At Brash, Pérez-Feria was solely in charge of the site’s creative as well as its content and penned the majority of its groundbreaking features.
Directly prior to going to Time Inc., Pérez-Feria was the Editor in Chief at 7x7, San Francisco’s premier fashion, luxury and celebrity magazine. Concurrently, he served as an editorial consultant to the San Francisco Chronicle’s Sunday magazine, working directly with the paper’s editor, Phil Bronstein. Previously, Pérez-Feria joined Weider Publications as Vice President, Editorial and Creative Services, overseeing all editorial and creative aspects of the health and fitness publishing company’s Manhattan-based specialty division. During his tenure, he launched numerous titles, including special newsstand issues of the company’s core magazines. He also served as Editor in Chief of SHAPE’s Fit Hollywood, JUMP, Fit Pregnancy Style and Strong.
Pérez-Feria and business partner George W. Slowik, Jr. co-owned PressCorps, a New York City-based magazine company. At PressCorps, Pérez-Feria served as Executive Vice President, Editorial Director for numerous publications including Celebrity Style, Music Choice, Teen Celebrity, City Family, American Druggist, Issues In Patient Care, Medical Tribune, Gym, TennisMatch and Burn!
Pérez-Feria was also the Editor in Chief of Miami Mensual/Monthly, then the nation’s largest monthly bilingual consumer magazine for Hispanics, where along with his responsibilities at the popular monthly, Pérez-Feria was co-host with Tara Solomon of a nightly, three-hour radio program on WMBM called Beach Party With Tara and Richard where he interviewed numerous celebrities and colorful personalities populating the South Beach (FL) scene. Previously, Pérez-Feria was founding Editor in Chief of the Miami-based weekly, International Business Chronicle.
Pérez-Feria initially gained widespread recognition as the founding Editor in Chief of POZ, the first national consumer magazine for the HIV-impacted individual. Pérez-Feria and POZ received numerous honors, including a nomination for a National Magazine Award for General Excellence. Pérez-Feria began his journalism career at the venerable Esquire and was on the launch team of the legendary and award-winning New York City weekly, 7 Days.
On a personal note, Pérez-Feria was the recipient of Ballet Hispanico’s prestigious Inspiration Award, honoring those who have empowered the Hispanic community through the quality of their vision. Pérez-Feria was unanimously selected by the Board of Directors of GLAAD to receive its first-ever Visibilidad Award, presented by Gloria and Emilio Estefan at the sold-out GLAAD Media Awards, given to a high-profile Hispanic media professional who best represents the goals and ideals of the charitable organization. The City of San Francisco established Richard Pérez-Feria Day (February 2) and bestowed Pérez-Feria the city’s highest honor in a well-attended ceremony. Pérez-Feria is also in Who’s Who In America.
